Lizzo is calling out body-shaming TikTok users who use her name as an insult in association with “big girls.”
Sharing her own TikTok video, Lizzo clapped back, letting those haters know that she’s, “been working out consistently for the last five years.” Adding that, “it may come as a surprise to some of y’all, that I’m not working out to have your ideal body type, I’m working out to have my ideal body type. And you know what type that is? None of your f****** business.”
*Metaphorical mic drop
The video featured a compilation of clips showing Lizzo doing various exercises, posing in lingerie and looking at her flawless reflection in a mirror while wearing a swimsuit.
In the video voiceover the “Truth Hurts” singer continued to read these body shaming individuals. Making sure they know what’s up and that their judgments are not welcome.
“I am beautiful, I am strong, I do my job, and I stay on my job. So next time you want to come to somebody and judge them, whether they drink kale smoothies or eat McDonald’s or work out or not work out, how about you look at your own f****** self and worry about your own godd*** body, because health is not just determined on what you look like on the outside.”
Throughout her rise in the music industry, Lizzo has used her growing platform and influence to object to those who insult her appearance. She furthermore exemplified that by thanking these trolls for comparing her to other body positive females.
"Every time there is a big girl on this app, I find that people always put my name in the comments… to the people who be putting my name in the comments, thank you," she added, clapping as she inched closer to the camera. “Because you know what? If every time you see a big girl on this app, loving on herself and putting herself out there and being confident and loving her body, you think of me? Or you think she looks like me? B****, that is a what? Compliment.”
*Metaphorically pick up mic and drop it again.
