Shawn Mendes released the first trailer for his Netflix documentary In Wonder and we’re hanging off the edge or our couch in anticipation for the November 23 premiere.
Fans get a steamy look at Shawn bathing under the shower’s hot water. Delicate piano keys lead to the singer reminiscing over old journal entries. One book has the phrase “I sing with no tension,” scribed repeatedly. Viewers are taken behind the scenes where Mendes prepares for events and readies himself to perform among a sea of fans (this is pre-pandemic, mind you).
The trailer confirms this documentary will follow his 2019 self-titled world tour and possibly a few moments leading up to the coronavirus pandemic.
There are also flashes of family pictures and videos providing a the genesis of Shawn’s singing career. Finally, fans are left with Mendes speaking about his love for girlfriend Camila Cabello, admitting most of his songs are dedicated to her.
Wonder also serves as the title for Mendes’ fourth studio album, arriving December 4. The artist recently talked with RADIO.COM’s Juila to expand on the writing process for his latest work in two years.
He says it was “tough" to figure out how he wanted to step back into his artistic voice. However, Shawn tells us that as soon as “Wonder” came about he knew exactly which direction he was headed. “I feel so good about what I am saying conceptually,” he said.

“I feel like 'Wonder' is in a lot of ways me just reflecting on my life, and life in general… I’ve never really done that before… probably because I didn’t have the mental capacity and clarity to even be able to reflect, and also probably because I was really scared of what people would think if I started to reflect in my music.”
Shawn’s Netflix documentary In Wonder starts streaming November 23. His fourth studio album, Wonder, arrives December 4.
