Taylor Swift and Andrew Lloyd Webber Debut 'Beautiful Ghosts' from ‘CATS’

From the film arriving on December 20

Did you expect anything less than epic?

Taylor Swift and Andrew Lloyd Webber have teamed up for a new song as part of the upcoming film version of CATS. Swift will play Bombalurina in the film, however the song will be performed on screen by Victoria, played by Francesca Hayward.

Swift is soaring and vulnerable on the original addition, complimenting the classic style of Webber. “There was an ambition and an aspiration to have an original song in the movie,” Swift shares in a behind-the-scenes video. “Just very much this understanding of, let’s write the best song we can.”

“I played it to you and I said ‘this is a new song,’” Webber adds looking on at Swift. “You said, ‘I’ll do the lyric,’ and you did it then and there more or less.”

“What I couldn’t believe was the extraordinary beauty of these lyrics that Taylor had written,” explains Director Tom Hooper. “It was as if someone had come into the film I was in the middle of making and read the script, met the actors, and seen the world, and reflected back to me a profound understanding of what we’re trying to do with the movie.”

The latest version of CATS also stars Jennifer Hudson, Jason Derulo, Judi Dench, Ian McKellen, and James Corden. It arrives in theaters on December 20.
