Alex Trebek Has No Plans to Step Down as 'Jeopardy!' Host

As Alex Trebek faces a second round of chemo to treat his pancreatic cancer, fans are left wondering if the end of his “Jeopardy!” run could be upon them. Sources say that’s not the case.

After an interview with Canadian TV outlet, CTV News, fans were concerned that Trebek’s health was deteriorating so much so that he would have leave his position as host for the iconic game show.

He had opened up about the sores in his mouth that make it hard to enunciate and the overall weakness he feels. “There will come a point when they [fans and producers] will no longer be able to say, ‘It’s okay.’”

The comment had fans worrying that the end of his hosting career was coming up faster than anticipated. But now, “Jeopardy!” production sources say fans have nothing to worry about.

According to TMZ, the show is taped 2.5 months in advance, meaning they have shows already for well into December. The show tapes twice a week, and Trebek hasn’t missed a taping in 35 years.

As for the mouth sores and enunciation issues, sources say that Trebek is a little hypercritical of his situation, and there are no more mistakes than there are on any other taping of a show. It’s usually just a matter of a simple retake.
