Alex Trebek's Wife Opens Up on Coping With 'Jeopardy!' Host's Cancer Diagnosis

Alex Trebek’s wife of 29-years is speaking out for the first time since his stage IV pancreatic cancer diagnosis in March.

In a rare interview, Jean Trebek revealed her coping mechanisms and explained how they’ve made a positive impact on the “Jeopardy!” host.

Jean spoke openly with SurvivorNet, the first video and streaming platform dedicated to cancer prevention, about how she’s been relying on her faith in Religious Science.

Religious Science is best described as “a spiritual, philosophical and metaphysical religious movement within the New Thought movement.”

Jean works as a licensed practitioner at the North Hollywood Church of Religious Science.

According to her, the practice, which includes a combination of sound and meditation, has helped her “stay grounded."

She believes it's how she's been able to pass on positive thoughts and feelings to the ill game show host.

“It comes from a place of love, because I want to uplift him … and when I keep my own self buoyed and enjoying my life, I can actually share that with him. He can look at me and have a sense of ‘life is beautiful; my wife is doing something good,” Jean said.

Jean also has advice for others who may need a little guidance.

"Just ask the universe, ‘What’s the next step for me?’ The universe will always respond. I am absolutely sure that we live in a benevolent universe that is always conspiring for our highest and greatest good.”

With all of the challenges and chemotherapy Trebek is facing, he said a lot of his strength comes from his wife, who is always there for him when he’s “going through a bad experience.”

Despite his illness, Alex has kept up with his hosting duties on the game show and doesn’t have plans to step down.
