Are more kids on the horizon for Hoda Kotb?
During a recent appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” the “Today” show anchor revealed that she and fiancé Joel Schiffman are contemplating adding another bundle of joy to their growing family.
"I don't know," she told the daytime talk show host.
"I'm not 100 sure. I'm like a sign person, I always look for signs, and I feel like there are some signs out there that are pointing to... I'll tell you, I was scribbling in my journal, and I was asking myself that question, and I wrote in there, I'm wondering if we should, and I wrote, 'Do we have enough love?' I wrote 'Yes.' I said, 'Do we have enough time?' I wrote 'Yes.' And I said, 'Would our family be more enhanced?' I wrote 'Yes.' So I was thinking, maybe the answer is yes," she added.
DeGeneres then clarified that Kotb wants to be a mother of three to which she responded, "I think we're thinking about it."
"But I have to tell you, I keep seeing stories of kids who don't have what they need. It keeps popping up, so I don't know. Every time I turn around, there's a story and I'm like, 'Is this another sign?'"
However, she did reveal that she had some concerns about her age. Kotb and Schiffman are 55 and 61, respectively.
“I was scared, because we’re older,” she noted. “But then I realized, they’ll have each other. … When you’re parents later in life, like, watching Haley and Hope grow together, all I really want is for them to have someone to hold their hand forever. That’s it. That’s all I want.”
She also admitted that this is the first time she's ever gotten a trainer because, as DeGeneres mentioned, kids demand "so much energy."
Kotb and Schiffman adopted their second daughter, Hope Catherine, in April 2019. They’re also parents to 2-year-old Haley Joy.
The couple announced their engagement in November, and Kotb revealed they're planning a low-key fall wedding.
"I think it's gonna be super simple, no big deal, we'll bring some friends, we'll probably be on a beach somewhere," she gushed.
