Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson are back for season 2 of “Law & Order: Organized Crime.”
Stabler, played by Christopher Meloni, is going undercover on the new "Law & Order" spinoff as he works to find a balance between his personal and working relationship with Benson, played by Mariska Hargitay.
“Benson recognizes certain telltale signs that he might need to talk to people and that it might not be the healthiest place for him to be in the moment,” Meloni said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, noting that his character is still coming to terms with his wife’s murder.
“I think it’s going to be a collaborative effort between both showrunners and Mariska and I to figure it all out. It’s a complicated relationship, so we’ll see,” Meloni added.
Overall, Meloni is happy that fans have accepted his character after a 10-year absence.
"It goes to show that whatever our chemistry was, whatever we did on screen in our SVU days together stuck with the people and there was a sense that it was not finished correctly or properly,” the actor said.
Hargitay and Meloni are known for making fans on social media happy as they continue to make surprising appearances with each other. However, they both also like to tease on their social media accounts.
In the photo, Meloni and Hargitay stare at each other with their faces almost touching. In the scandalous picture, in which the background looks like an abandoned industrial building, it seems that the two stars were going in for a smooch.
"Law & Order: SVU" season 23 premieres Thursday, Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. ET/PT followed by the premiere "Law & Order: Organized Crime" season 2 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
