The Truth Behind Dog the Bounty Hunter's Marriage Proposal Revealed

Dog the Bounty Hunter's proposal was not for real.

Last week, a teaser clip for a Feb. 3 episode of “The Dr. Oz Show" revealed Chapman proposing to his son's ex-girlfriend Moon Angell.

But the episode, which aired on Monday, showed that Dog's proposal was meant to prove a point that he and Moon Angell are just "friends."

"I think this will put a stop to a lot of this," the 67-year-old reality show star said during his appearance. "Moon Angell will you marry me?"

While the question was abruptly edited in last week's teaser, Dog went on to explain that he asked Angell knowing what her response would be.

Angell confirmed that her platonic relationship with Dog would never be more than that.

"I think he's an amazing human being, but I've known him before he was famous," she said. "To me, he will always be my best friend. I don't see myself thinking past that."

She added: "Beth was my best friend. Duane is my best friend. I'm not crossing that line."

On Sunday, Dog shared a photo of his late wife, Beth Chapman, on his Instagram, People reports.

The touching behind-the-scenes pic shows the two embracing, with the “Dog’s Most Wanted” star leaning in to kiss Beth, who passed away after a battle with cancer in June.

“I sure miss you today!!” he captioned the photo.

The proposal made waves last week when it was released in a teaser for today's episode.

“Moon Angell, will you marry me?” he asked as Angell and Dr. Oz looked on in shock.

Dog and Beth had been married since May 2006. Together, the couple owned and operated Da’Kine Bail Bonds, the bounty hunting business on which their show “Dog the Bounty Hunter” was based.

Chapman has admitted that he contemplated suicide after his wife lost her two-year battle with lung and throat cancer in 2019. But he seems to be in a much better place.

The episode of "The Dr. Oz Show" aired Monday.
