Drew Barrymore tapped a very special guest to help promote her upcoming daytime talk show: her 7-year-old self!
In the first promo for the show, the 45-year-old sits down to chat with “E.T”-era Barrymore during her 1982 appearance on “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.”
Thanks to the magic of editing, the side-by-side is accomplished by swapping Barrymore in for Carson.
Adult Barrymore welcomes her younger-self to the show, who cheekily responds: “I’ve been waiting all my life to meet you.”
Barrymore then marvels at her career since the appearance telling herself, “it’s been a wild ride. Can you believe I have two daughters around your age?"
Little Drew once again has the best response. “Kinda scary," she tells her.
As Barrymore fills her incarnation in on details of the new daytime show, they let out a shriek of excitement in unison.
"The Drew Barrymore Show," set to debut on CBS on September 14, is going to “celebrate life” for an hour every day, the actress teases in the promo.
The show was initially announced in October.
"It is beyond my wildest dreams to have this opportunity for a daily talk show. I'm truly thrilled and honored to be creating this show with CBS,” Barrymore said at the time, per CNN.
