The “Big Bang Theory” actress will take the podium this week in his absence as the first guest host, PEOPLE confirmed through a spokesperson for Sony Pictures Television.

CNN notes that since the show tapes a week’s worth of episodes in one day, Bialik will host three weeks worth of the beloved game show’s episodes.

A producer for the show also confirmed to the outlet that “additional guest hosts will be announced” as production continues.

However, a source revealed she is being considered for the role full time.

The 38th season will premiere on September 13. The five episodes Richards taped prior to his departure will air as scheduled, PEOPLE confirmed.

Last week, Richards stepped down from his newly appointed role as the host of “Jeopardy!” after coming under fire for contentious remarks he made about women and other marginalized groups on a resurfaced podcast.

He was announced as the late Alex Trebek’s successor. Though he is no longer the host, he will stay on and serve as an executive producer.

Following Richards’s departure, fans have called on Bialik to step down as well citing controversial remarks she made about vaccines in a 2017 opinion article she wrote for the New York Times. which many say is an example of “victim blaming,” according to Newsweek.

Jeff Jarvis, a journalism professor at the City University of New York, shared his opinion on why Bialik should be removed as a stand-in. He also said the show should hire LeVar Burton for the position.

Burton seems to have the support of many fans, including “Deadpool’s” Ryan Reynolds.
