‘Jeopardy!’ reveals new guest host roster after Alex Trebek’s death

Who will guest host “Jeopardy!” after Alex Trebek’s death?

Ever since Trebek died in November at the age of 80 after battling pancreatic cancer, fans have wondered who will replace the legendary game host.

Producers of “Jeopardy!” announced that Katie Couric, Aaron Rodgers, Bill Whitaker, and Mayim Bialik would serve as guest hosts this season, reports New York Post.

Longtime network news star Katie Couric will become the first female to guest host the famous show. Couric declined to comment when asked whether she is interested in taking the role on a full-time basis.

While Aaron Rodgers is currently trying to win a Super Bowl, he will also add “television host” to his lengthy resume via his stint as guest host.

The Green Bay Packers quarterback revealed on “The Pat McAfee Show” that he will be among the guest hosts filling in for the late Alex Trebek on “Jeopardy!”

“One of my idols growing up was Alex Trebek,” Rodgers said. “And being able to be on ‘Jeopardy!’ years ago – even thought my wardrobe outfit wasn’t the greatest choice … they are doing some guest hosting spots and … I have the opportunity to do one of those.”

“Alex was a legend, revered by all of us,” executive producer Mike Richards said. “I want to thank our guest hosts, who will not only help all of us celebrate his great legacy, but also bring their own touch to the show.”

In November, it was announced that Ken Jennings, the “Greatest of All Time” tournament winner, would be the first in a series of interim guest hosts.

Trebek’s last episode aired on January 8 and was filmed several days before the 80-year-old died.

Richards, the executive producer, will also make an appearance as guest host for two weeks of shows once the episodes Jennings filmed run out. Producers made this call so the guest hosts can “prepare for their appearances.”

Guest hosts will also raise funds for their favorite charities.

“As a part of each guest host’s appearance, a donation will be made to a charity of their choice,” a press release said. “The amount donated will equal the cumulative winnings of the contestants that compete during the weeks they serve as guest host.”

The press release also confirmed that there would also be additional guests announced later in the season.
