Kelly Ripa Makes Cleaning Fun With a 'Chore Wheel' for Her Kids During COVID Lockdown

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have made cleaning and doing chores fun for the whole family.

During an episode of “Live with Kelly and Ryan,” Ripa told parenting expert Dr. Eileen Kennedy-Moore that she found an interesting way to divide tasks amongst her three children, Lola (19), Michael (23), and Joaquin (17), during lockdown.

"We've established a chore wheel where everybody has a chore of the week," she said.

“Somebody’s vacuuming, somebody does the dishes, somebody does the laundry, somebody cleans the toilet,” the mom of three revealed.

Understandably, cleaning the toilet has been “very unpopular,” according to the host adding that they take weekly turns so it's fair.

Kennedy-Moore was impressed calling the "chore wheel" a “fabulous idea.”

"There’s actually research that when kids contribute to their families in meaningful ways, they feel happier. That may not actually be a good argument to convince them to wash the toilet, but it’s true and it’s very good for kids to be able to contribute,” she added.

It was previously revealed that the family has been quarantining in the Caribbean during the pandemic, which is where Ripa has been hosting the talk show virtually.

The 49-year-old host shared that they were on a tropical getaway when the coronavirus caused shutdowns all over the globe.

"I mean, everything shut down; the government shut down; our country shut down. I hate to use the word stuck, but we were. We decided to stay where we are," Ripa said adding that ABC advised her to hunker down.
