Teresa and Joe Giudice Split After 20 Years of Marriage: Reports

It’s over for longtime couple Teresa and Joe Giudice.

“The Real Housewives of New Jersey” stars have decided to officially split after twenty years of marriage.

The news isn’t shocking as a source close to the family told People that Joe and Teresa “have been separated” since the family's recent trip to visit Joe in Italy.

“They discussed their future when Teresa and the girls went to Italy in early November and they agreed that each had to move on. They are doing so amicably and very slowly,” the source says of the childhood sweethearts.

Joe confirmed the split by posting a side-by-side photo of himself and Teresa with the caption, “it’s time to let go.”

The source told the publication that the split is amicable adding, “Joe has been out on a few dates, Teresa has not. She has been too busy with the girls, with work obligations and taking care of her father. She is happy for Joe. They have been very friendly with one another and are very supportive of each other’s happiness.”

TMZ also confirmed the public split via source.

“They still love one another, but as Teresa told Andy Cohen on the WWHL special, they are separated by the Atlantic Ocean. Neither is interested in a long distance relationship,” the source admitted.

During the aforementioned “Watch What Happens Live” episode (Joe appeared via satellite), they both agreed that they would not want to be together if Joe was deported to Italy permanently.

Plenty of peers expected the couple to split including current "RHONJ" cast members Dolores Catania and Jennifer Aydin.

“I think they’ll always be together to some extent but not as husband and wife,”Catania told Ashlee Malleo on her RADIO.COM Original podcast “Making It Up As I Go…,”

However, the couple is not ready to make things official by law as the source reveals “there are no plans for divorce” at this time.

Despite the split, their four daughters will be spending the holidays in Italy with their father as Teresa previously revealed.

Joe even posted an Instagram of himself doing some pricey Christmas shopping for his ladies.

The couple’s marriage has been under constant strain ever since Joe started his 41-month prison sentence for fraud in 2016. He was released in March, but was in ICE custody awaiting a decision on his ongoing deportation battle.

Joe, who was born in Italy and never became an American citizen, faced deportation after being convicted of a felony.  While his multiple appeals have been denied, he’s currently awaiting the court’s final decision in his hometown of Italy, a request he made due to ICE’s rough facility conditions.

Prior to Joe being sent away, Teresa served 11 months in federal prison and was released in 2015.
