Brett Young may be the star of the show now, but even as a successful Country artist, he’s never stopped experiencing pinch me moments. Like that one time he met Tim McGraw for the first time.

“I think I still have those quite a bit, I hope I never stop having those,” Brett told Audacy’s Katie Neal of pinch me moments. “The big one that comes to mind takes me actually back to last time we were at C2C… I got to meet Tim McGraw, who is the one that made me fall in love with Country music as a fan and then, in turn, end up wanting to write Country songs.”
Brett explained Tim was kind enough to take time to meet him before his show and it was a moment Brett will never forget. “We were over there opening for him in Dublin — for him and Faith [Hill] — and he found out I was a huge fan and had somebody come grab me to come down and meet him and spent 20-30 minutes chattin’ with me and we took a picture… I was probably fangirling a little bit in that moment.”
Who wouldn’t be?!?
Being on the road has clearly brought Brett some one-of-a-kind experiences, but these days he finds it harder and harder to leave as he now is the father of two young girls; Presley (2) and Rowan (8 months). Fans could see just how much he’s missed by his little ones with a video his wife posted of Presley crying to “get Daddy back.”
“It’s really hard,” Brett said of leaving his daughters before admitting his wife is able to soothe the girls so well when they miss their dad. “Luckily, my wife has such a great relationship [with them] and is such a great mom to the kids so it’s like, that moment probably lasted as long as that video and then they were in the corner playing with toys.”
Regardless of knowing they’re in good care, Brett says he’s struggled with mild anxiety since becoming a father and while still trying to find ways to support his mental health, he currently leans on faith and prayer.
“I grew up in the church, and my dad’s a pastor, so I have faith and that’s kind of been something that I’ve leaned on my whole life,” Brett shared. “My quiet time is actually prayer. It settles me knowing I’m talking to somebody that I trust to take care of me and that I always have.”
