Country music favorite, Garth Brooks let the tears flow as fellow artist Kelly Clarkson honored him during the Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, D.C. where Brooks was being recognized with the lifetime artistic achievement award.

Clarkson took the stage to perform Brooks’ song, “The Dance,” from 1989 and her rendition raised the bar on an already memorable night.

An emotional Brooks could be seen front row during Clarkson’s performance next to his wife, Trisha Yearwood who was beaming with pride.

The 2021 Kennedy Center Honors, hosted by Gloria Estefan, will air June 6 on CBS.

While her performance was pristine, Kelly admitted to Entertainment Tonight she felt like a mess on the inside.

"I was texting Trisha Yearwood before the show and then I go on stage and I saw them and like all of a sudden I am the sweatiest human on planet earth," she shared. "And I got a little nervous, and I don't get nervous singing. Yep, I didn't enjoy that!"

Kelly recently hosted Garth on her talkshow, The Kelly Clarkson Show, where she opened up to him about the ways ‘The Dance” has helped her cope through her divorce from Brandon Blackstock.

“There’s just so much shame and guilt… and I couldn’t quite nail down the feeling,” Clarkson told Garth of her emotions surrounding the divorce. “I was listening to my playlist and ‘The Dance’ came on and I was like, ‘No, that’s it, that’s the thing,’” she expressed after sharing that the song spoke he feelings she couldn’t express herself.

Clarkson and Blackstock were married for seven years and divorced in June 2020. They share two young children together; River (6) and Remington (5).
