Olivia Newton-John found fame at 28 years old for playing Sandy in “Grease.” Nearly four decades later she is fighting breast cancer and finding ways to stay positive.

In a CBS interview with Gayle King, Newton-John discussed her ongoing battle with breast cancer. She revealed that this is the third time she is fighting this terrible disease.

Newton-John told King that the pain can be “really bad.”

The “Grease” star was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992 and overcame cancer again in 2013. In May she told People that the cancer had metastasized and spread to her bones.

Despite the harrowing battle with cancer that she's fought throughout her life, she still keeps a positive outlook and doesn’t think about the statistics of the disease.

“It’s almost like, I think I know what the statistics are. And if, and, but I put them away. But I’m gonna live longer than that. I’ve made that decision. And I don’t buy into the statistics ‘cause I think they can make you really nervous,” Newton-John said.

As part of her healing process she continues to live life to the fullest. Newton-John said, “The joy of life and everyday living has to be a part of that healing process as well.”

Although the actress can't control her disease, the attitude she adopts is an easy choice for her.

"It's a decision how you choose to feel about something. So, I've chosen that path," she said. "I'm happy. I'm lucky. I'm grateful. I have much to live for. And I intend to keep on livin' it."

As part of the her fight against the horrible disease, she has looked at ways to help people who are in the same position as her.

One of the most iconic costumes Newton-John has worn -- the black leather jacket and skin-tight pants that she wore in "Grease" -- is going on the auction block this fall, with proceeds going to the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Center in her native Australia.

Other items from the 1978 classic that will be available include the 71-year-old actress's original script and the lace gown she wore to the premiere.
