Aerosmith - 10 Awards

While Aerosmith hasn't won an award since 1998, the group had an impressive run of 10 total victories from 1990-1998 for seven different songs.
Justin Timberlake - 11 Awards

Justin Timberlake can be heard on Boy Band Nation.
Timberlake is a decorated VMAs winner that has won prestigious awards like Male Artist of the Year, Quadruple Threat of the Year, and the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
Taylor Swift - 11 Awards

We have a feeling Taylor Swift won't be this low on the list for long as she's been nominated for four awards at the 2021 MTV VMAs. Her most recent award was for Best Direction for "The Man" at the 2020 VMAs.
Green Day - 11 Awards

Green Day makes the list on the massive success of their single "Boulevard of Broken Dreams," which has won the band six VMAs.
R.E.M. - 12 Awards

From 1989-1995, R.E.M. stormed through the VMAs racking up six awards for "Losing My Religion" and four awards for "Everybody Hurts" on top of a Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
Peter Gabriel - 13 Awards

Peter Gabriel can be heard on The 80s. Peter Gabriel may be a surprising inclusion on this, but not when you take into account that his smash hit "Sledgehammer" has won a jaw-dropping nine VMAs.
Eminem - 13 Awards

Eminem can be heard on See You at the Movies. Slim Shady has racked up 13 VMAs in his career, but it's been awhile since he won one as his last victory came in 2014.
Lady Gaga - 18 Awards

Gaga has been a staple at the VMAs as she's racked up an impressive amount of awards. On top of individual video awards, she's also the reigning Artist of the Year winner.
Madonna - 20 Awards

Madonna held the title as the artist with the most wins at the VMAs for quite some time. During the period from 1986-1999, Madge took home a total of 20 VMAs, which included the prestigious Video Vanguard Award.
Beyoncé - 28 Awards

Beyoncé takes the top spot as the artist with the most VMAs and it's not even close. Bey holds an astonishing 28 wins and makes it more impressive that her most recent one came in 2016. It wouldn't be surprising to see this number go even higher in the future.
