In the latest episode of ESPN+ Man in the Arena docuseries on Tom Brady, it covers the Patriots’ 21–17 loss to the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLVI. Brady, along with his better half, Gisele Bündchen, recalled Gisele's infamous comment that caused a frenzy and the fallout from it.

The Brazilian supermodel was caught on camera immediately following the game, defending her husband after a group of hecklers insulted Brady.

"So now we have to walk to the freaking elevator. And these guys who probably had a few drinks on them as well were like, 'Your husband sucks.' Gisele said, " 'Just tell him to go home and cry like a baby.' "

That's when she was caught in 4K blurting out her infamous comment in defense of Brady.

"My husband cannot f---ing throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time," Bündchen said.

Her comments stem from Brady failing to connect with Wes Welker on a deep pass on the left hashmark. If Welker had made the catch, the Patriots would have had a massive first down which could've ultimately iced the game. Instead, New England punted and Eli Manning led the Giants to yet another game-winning touchdown.

Bündchen, who married Brady in 2009, was sitting alongside Vince Wilfork's wife and said she was so nervous about the second rendition of the Giants vs. the Patriots in the Super Bowl that she needed wine to calm her down.

“That whole stadium was so tense, you felt like, I mean I was like, I couldn’t handle, it was too much for me. I was like a nail-biter. I was like, ‘Give me some wine,'” Bündchen said of the game. “I was with Bianca, Vince Wilfork’s wife, and she’s like, ‘G, come on, have another one.’ And you know I’m drinking wine because I’m just trying to relax. It was the most stressful game ever, I think.”

Following her remarks, Brady scolded his wife once they got back to their hotel room.

"I said, 'You can't say that,' " Brady explained in the Man in the Arena episode. Despite Brady clearly not liking her comments at the time, Gisele doubled down on them and is not apologizing.

"I thought I was like mild, what I said. I mean it's true, how can he do everything? He can't catch and throw the ball at the same time, that's just a fact."

Although Gisele received a lot of backlash for her comments, the next morning her comments were misconstrued as being directed towards Welker.

“When they made it about Wes, it broke my heart,” she said. “It was like, ‘Are you kidding me? That’s the hardest-working guy I know on that team.'”

Welker, who played for the Patriots from 2007 to 2012 and is close friends with Brady, made an appearance in Tuesday's episode of Brady's docuseries and appeared to be a good sport about the whole incident.

“I know where her heart is and I know who she is, so I almost agreed with her at the time,” Welker said. “I was more mad at myself. Just funny that, you know, you get remembered by the one, you know. It’s just something that I gotta move on from.”

It's unclear whether alcohol had played a big part in her comments towards a group of fans, but not unlike other NFL wives, she stood up for her husband after yet another crushing defeat by the New York Football Giants.

Brady and Bündchen have hinted at the remark before. Back in 2019, Brady posted a funny video of himself on Instagram in which he tosses the football around — with himself.

Bündchen commented at the time, "What!?! He can actually throw and catch at the same time!"
