Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is predicting his star will burn bright again in 2020.
Beckham, while discussing his recovery offseason hernia surgery and a litany of nagging injuries in a video posted by his Youtube account on Monday, said 2020 will be among the best seasons of his career.
"Basically I'm just trying to build up resiliency, more strength," Beckham explained. "My problem in my career, for injuries -- honestly I had never been injured until I snapped my ankle. And then from then I had already had a bunch of compensation injuries that the body -- it naturally occurs over the years. So right now what I'm trying to do is, basically the reset button."
OBJ said going back to the drawing board has him back in peak condition, and poised for a resurgence after a disappointing debut season in Cleveland.
"Being able to just get everything fixed -- shoulders, arms, back -- everything aligned, functional, moving properly. So I can begin training to get ready for the season. I would honestly say this is going to be one of my best seasons. Bigger, faster, stronger -- this is my time."
After eclipsing 1,300 receiving yards in each of his first three seasons in the NFL, Beckham has struggled with injuries while mired in middling offenses the past three seasons. He still eclipsed 1,000 yards and 70 catches on a mediocre Browns team in 2019 -- not terrible figures but hardly befitting one of the league's top-paid players at the position.
The season got off on the wrong foot soon after he was traded from the Giants, Beckham said.
"So last year, I was training in June and July, and I was kind of just feeling stuff around the groin area -- abs and stuff like that. My third week of training camp, I tear a little piece of my ab. So before the season, I kind of had the hernia thing going on. Sports hernia is what they call it. End up at the end of the season, torn abductor, torn rectus abdominis on the right.
"So pretty much, I was just f---ed up the whole year. I really didn't try and say anything about it. Probably one of the worst surgeries I've ever had. Recovery's going well. Guess I'm really just trying to put my body back together. I've been playing for 23 years, so for me, I'm trying to put it all back together in seven months."

Beckham's fate has seemingly been churning the trade rumor mill for several years, and this offseason was no different. The Browns hired a new GM and head coach for Year 3 of the Baker Mayfield era, fueling speculation the new regime would want to seek a trade to untether itself from a player perceived to have baggage. The Browns shot down those rumors, however.
Beckham was back in the headlines after Round 1 of the NFL Draft, when he criticized ESPN for airing a segment about the Giants which included a brief clip of the infamous sideline incident in which he slammed a kicking net with his helmet, only to have the net bounce back and clock him in the head.
