"I think Billie just represents a new age of popular music," Odell shares after serving as the opener during Eilish's European tour dates. "She's raised the bar of the quality of popular music. A lot of those songs like, 'What Was I Made For' and 'When The Party's Over,' they're like modern standards and the craft of it, it is incredible. To be in an arena and to see a load of 16 year olds screaming those lyrics. I think is so inspiring."
"Honestly, I think the whole of popular music, we have a lot to thank her for."
Beyond just Billie, Tom also talked about the power of live music in general and why it remains so important. "I think it's the best way of getting your music heard," he admits. "There's a tendency to live in this kind of quite two dimensional world on our phones and on screens. I think ultimately the thing we walk away from is that it's not satisfying. It doesn't touch some part of us that needs to be stimulated when you stare at a phone, and I think when you go and see a live gig, you're there. And it gets in your skin."
