Get ready Avatars - the anthems are coming! Ava Max is currently opening up for Maroon 5 and Blackbear on the MMXXI Tour but she's been hard at work prepping her next era of dance bangers.
“I never thought I could make a bigger anthem than 'Kings & Queens' and then the second album happened - I just can’t wait to share it," the singer told Extra Eric of Mix 104.1. "It’s like 'Kings & Queens' on crack...I am speechless with the music we’re making right now."

The "Naked" singer made her mark on Pop music with her smash-hit debut album Heaven & Hell, which recently celebrated its 1-year anniversary, and it sounds like her sophomore follow up will hit even harder. "It’s still going to be dance bangers I’ll tell you that!"
Fans won't have to wait too much longer for the next era - the album and tour are both coming in 2022. Without spoiling anything she did reveal that the album "definitely has a lot of dance records on it but it has more of that soulful feeling" while joking about not releasing any ballads. Those will have to wait until the fifth or sixth album apparently!
One of Ava's greatest strengths has been her ability to sample some of the most popular Pop songs ever - most recently ATC's "Around The World" on her banger "My Head & My Heart - and turn them into a fresh masterpiece. Thankfully this trend will continue on her next album. “I like to dabble a little bit into that because I think it’s so nostalgic and it makes you feel happy like we’re bringing a part of the past in...there is maybe a couple [on the next album] yeah.”
Even though there are plenty of epic songs that didn't make Heaven & Hell there won't be a B-sides dropping. "I'm leaving it behind now. The first album, to be honest, was an accumulation of everything I listened to growing up - Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey - everything I listened to all the melodies, all the music kind of came out in this album. I feel like I’m done with that - I’ve done that - now I’m about to show everybody who I really am."
Heaven & Hell featured a variety of massive Pop names in the credits: Charlie Puth, Bonnie McKee, Tove Lo, and many more. Longtime collaborator Cirkut will be executive producing the second album, but all new people will be collaborating on this project. "It is a different me now and it’s elevated."
This past year has been like no other and it's been a wild time to release a debut album. Despite all of the challenges Heaven & Hell still amassed billions of streams globally and was a massive success. "I didn’t think the album was going to do as good as it did because, again, we were in quarantine and I couldn’t really promote or go out there. The fans were there...I'm in shock and to this day I still can’t believe that happened."
Last holiday season Ava also delivered an instant classic Christmas Pop song titled "Christmas Without You" and this year there may be a little something special for all the Avatars. When asked about a music video for the song she teased, "I’ll leave that to a surprise but...maybe. It’s a big yes/maybe like it’s leaning towards yes but I just don’t want to get everyone’s hopes up."
