NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — One of New York City's iconic concert venues is coming back.
Irving Plaza will reopen this summer after being closed for two years — first for renovations and then due to the pandemic.
More than 40 shows have been booked, including Noah Cyrus, Ben Folds and Jesse McCartney.
The grand reopening will be Aug. 17, featuring country star Ashley McBryde.
The venue will be able to host 1,200 fans.
The multi-million dollar renovation includes improved Wi-Fi, better sightlines, state-of-the-art sound and lighting, an expanded lobby and bar area, as well as an upscale VIP lounge with a private bar and balcony level boxes that offer unobstructed views of the stage.
The venue has also enhanced the experience for artists with two fully-renovated balcony level dressing rooms that provide direct stage access and also feature an adjacent green room with a private bathroom and amenities.
“We are excited to reveal our grand reopening series of shows and look forward to reopening our doors and bringing live music back to New York City. It will be great to finally be able to reconnect music fans with their favorite artists, especially here in this beautifully restored room,” said Geoff Gordon, Regional President, Live Nation. “Irving Plaza is filled with incredible music memories and these spectacular renovations will allow us to host even more amazing concerts.”
Presale tickets go on sale this week at IrvingPlaza.com and LiveNation.com.
