Music fans will recall the “Circles” hitmaker covering a handful of Nirvana songs during the pandemic while quarantined in his Salt Lake City house. Now, those songs will have a permanent home on the forthcoming Post Malone Tribute to Nirvana, arriving April 12.
The project will feature 14 covers of Nirvana tracks including, "On a Plane,” "Come as You Are," "Lounge Act," "Heart-Shaped Box," and more.
Joining Post on the album are Blink-182’s Travis Barker on drums, alongside guitarist Nick Mac and bassist Brian Lee.
Profits from the album will benefit MusiCares’ Addiction Recovery/Mental Health division.
The release comes just weeks after Post was officially unveiled as the ambassador for the 18th edition of Record Store Day. The tradition started in 2008 as a day to recognize independently owned record stores alongside the artists, staff and fans who keep them afloat.
"What an honor, I can’t believe I was chosen to be Record Store Day’s Ambassador for 2025," Malone said upon the offiial announcement. "We love hitting local shops when we’re on the road, seeing all the crazy artwork, the whole energy in a record store is just super inspiring."
He continued, "I feel at home. It’s really an unexplainable feeling to hit up a shop and dig through crates, just see what grabs your eye. You can be looking for something super specific and end up finding something totally different. It’s the best. Keep supporting y'all and let’s keep records and these local shops going strong," continued Malone. "Happy Record Store Day everybody!"
Record Store Day 2025 will take place on Saturday, April 12.
