However, Wiz Khalifa claims he wasn't invited to the annual fundraiser, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. According to the "See You Again” rapper, Met Gala officials “were scared" of him smoking marijuana at the high profile event. "They were scared of me smoking on the red carpet or at the event so no met gala. I don't blame em but weed is legal dude, sheesh," he tweeted.
The rapper’s tweet sparked mixed reactions. A Twitter user replied "Just cuz it is legal doesn't mean you gotta smoke it everywhere you go..." Recently passed, the New York State government website states that Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act (MRTA) legalizes recreational cannabis use for adults 21 years of age or older. “I did it last time and they freaked out apparently. With a doob of course,” Wiz continued on Twitter.
The rapper previously attended the Met Gala in 2016, 2017, and 2018. Although Wiz missed the 2022 Met Gala, celebrities like Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Gunna, Lizzo, SZA, Normani, Ciara, Kim Kardashian, Pete Davidson, and more were on the guest list.
