Rain. It falls from the sky, sways through the air, swirls down the sides of houses, and dances on the pavement before trickling into the Earth. But, how do we manage its journey so it brings with it as few pollutants as possible?

The Pennsylvania Resources Council, or PRC, is presenting a FREE, online Rain Garden workshop to do just that. Their purpose in this is to inspire Philadelphia-area residents to not only add a beautiful garden to their property but to also increase the sustainability of their homes and manage that ‘rain wooder’ runoff.

Tune in on Thursday, Feb. 11th from 6:30 to 8 PM for the Rain Garden workshop taking place virtually via Zoom. These gardens, according to PRC, are a highly effective method of stormwater management.

“Rain gardens reduce flooding and storm water pollution, improving water quality in our streams and rivers for aquatic life and recreational users,” Diana Andrejczak, PRC Eastern Program Director says. “During the workshop we’ll discuss problems associated with uncontrolled storm water runoff and how a rain garden can improve water quality in your community.” During this workshop, you’ll learn how to put together these rain gardens and also how to do so beautifully.
You’ll also discover watershed-friendly landscaping techniques to implement and how to maintain your garden.

The webinar is free but advance registration is required by clicking here. This Zoom presentation is presented by Darby Creek Valley Association, Eastern Delaware County Storm Water Collaborative, Upper Darby Rain Gardens and PRC.

Don’t forgetEarth Day is on Thursday, April 22, 2021!
