Report: Ben Simmons has already been named in Nets trade talks

Ben Simmons has only played in six games as a Net, but his name has reportedly already surfaced in trade talks.

According to SNY's Ian Begley, Simmons' name came up in talks between Brooklyn and "one Western Conference team" where the Nets were seeking a veteran shooter to improve their efficiency from the perimeter.

Simmons, notorious for his lack of scoring and shooting, certainly hampers the Brooklyn offense from a perimeter shooting standpoint, and while he has been an elite perimeter defender for much of his career, he has endured consistent foul trouble in a small sample size to begin this season.

He has also missed the last two games with knee soreness after not playing in a single game for Brooklyn last season due to back issues that flared up during reconditioning efforts after his holdout with the 76ers.

Per Begley, the trade talks were "cursory" and occurred last week, and after another loss on Tuesday night, the Nets will almost certainly be aggressive in trying to add pieces to a team that is currently without a head coach, and seemingly in the latter stages of a window of contention with their starts in Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.
