Chipper Jones subtly disses Angel Hernandez after controversial Alec Bohm play

We heard from a decent amount of MLB players, personalities and analysts after the Phillies-Braves game ended in very controversial fashion. Alec Bohm appeared not to touch home on a potential game-winning slide, but he was nonetheless rewarded with the run despite a lack of evidence that he actually ever made contact with home plate. And, overall, it seemed like everyone had the same thoughts about the ruling.

But what did Atlanta Braves legend Chipper Jones have to say about the matter?

Surprisingly, nothing really on his social media. He "liked" a number of tweets, including one from Mike Trout that said the call was "so bad," one from Justin Turner that said it was "absolutely brutal," and one from Jason Kipnis who asked "why even have replay if you're still gonna f*ck up the call!" So, obviously, we know where his mind was at.

But instead of venting his frustration in a tweet about his own thoughts, he decided to take it out on another frequent target of his: Angel Hernandez.

Oh man. He's not even going to acknowledge that Angel Hernandez could have seen that this one was the wrong call? Of course, it wasn't Hernandez who was responsible for this call — that was home plate umpire Lance Barrett and the replay crew in New York — but Jones still had to throw a little jab at Hernandez.

Jones hasn't been shy about his dislike of Hernandez, and that's one thing you can be sure of based on his Twitter page. Some of those tweets don't exist anymore, but there's still a pretty extensive archive of Hernandez hatred from Chipper.

I can only imagine what the social media fallout would have looked like had Hernandez, who is not universally loved behind the plate, been responsible for the outcome of the Phillies-Braves game. Then again, perhaps it's a good thing that Hernandez was given the night off for this one, as he's drawn a fair share of ire from the MLB community in recent games anyway.
