Philadelphia Eagles corner Darius Slay admitted that playing in front of Eagles fans is difficult, saying, "These probably the only fans that ever got to me bro.”
“We got our fans being the OC, talking about ‘RUN THE BALL!' Slay said on The Corner Suite podcast with former Eagle Steven Nelson. "I ain’t gonna lie, these probably the only fans that ever got to me bro.”
"If they like you, they like you," Slay said around the 33:00 mark. "If they don't, it's over with. It's a love hate relationship. The only person I seen them love is Lane [Johnson] and [Jason] Kelce."
Slay, 33, is entering the final year of his contract where he is set to have a cap hit of $14.4 million, but carries a dead cap hit of $24.1 million, per spotrac.com. Slay is due an option bonus of $11.94 million on March 13th, which is the first day of the official start of the 2024 NFL season (4:00 p.m. E.T.).
"I think he is the number one guy in two weeks that could be gone, that's a good player—very good player—that could be a sign of them trying to turn over culture," Joe DeCamara said on Friday's 94WIP Morning Show. "I'll be very interested to see what they do. Even though there may be some cap hit, and he'll be a sign that they might be looking to rest, take a step back, take some salary cap hits. I'm not predicting they're going to do this, but I think it is possible, I really do."
In his four seasons as an Eagle Slay has been excellent, recording nine interceptions, 43 passes defended, two fumble recoveries and four touchdowns in 60 regular season games.
