Nick Sirianni has signed a multi-year contract extension with the Eagles, and there was little doubt from any corners of the fanbase that the head coach was more than deserving to receive.
After all, Sirianni is coming off a Super Bowl championship in his second trip to the Big Game in three years, and arguably led the most dominant team in franchise history to an 18-3 record.
The reaction was a far cry to where the fanbase was less than two years ago when Philly stumbled to a first-round loss to the Bucs, and now, Joe DeCamara wants to know how those doubters feel 18 months later.
“What do you have to say now about Sirianni?” DeCamara said.
“There have been a lot of doubters…I have been a doubter at times. I called for his firing in 2023, and this guy really delivered.
“Thank God they didn’t fire him…we should never forget that, prior to the disastrous end to 2023, in the games that led up to that, he had gone an incredible 26-5...then the collapse, and then this past season when they went 18-3. The guy, he merits a lot of praise here today.”
DeCamara certainly doesn’t doubt Sirianni anymore, and for Jon Ritchie, who was more of a vocal doubter, says all the credit goes to the head coach for turning doubters like him into believers.
“He was part of the problem. The players were part of the problem,” Ritchie said. “They fixed a lot of those problems. Nick was so honest in the whole approach every step of the way…he’s the guy who points out his own shortcomings from day one.”
