Is the idea of the Philadelphia Eagles brining back Haason Reddick that crazy? Maybe not.
"Reddick is so frustrated with the Jets' situation, and of course he did request a trade in August, so frustrated that he wouldn't mind going back to Philadelphia," ESPN Jets reporter Rich Cimini said on his latest podcast. "Again, heard it from a little birdie. Take it for what it's worth."
Cimini took it one step further, speculating the Eagles and Jets could swap their defensive ends back.
"Could that trade happen? Reddick for Huff?" Cimini said. "Boy, that would be one of the more bizarre trades in NFL history. A lot of things would have to fall into place, which makes it kind of far-fetched, but it's an interesting situation to look at nonetheless."
On September 12th, Derrick Gunn reported, "As of now the Eagles have no intentions of bringing Haason Reddick back."
Reddick, who continues to hold out, is forfeiting approximately $800,000 per game missed during his holdout—on top of approximately $5 million in fines from the offseason.
Howie Roseman and the Eagles controversially traded the elite pass rusher on April 1st to the Jets for a conditional third-round draft pick. Roseman then went and signed former Jets defensive end Bryce Huff to a three-year deal worth $51 million in free-agency.
Reddick, 29, is in the final year of a three-year, $45 million contract he signed with the Eagles with no guaranteed money and he wants a new contract.
Huff has been a major disappointment for the Eagles through three games with zero sacks, pressures or QB hits playing in just 32-percent of the Eagles' defensive snaps in Week 3.
