Congratulations to Saquon Barkley, now the all-time single-season leading rusher in Eagles history.
Barkley’s nine-yard run with just under eight minutes left in the fourth quarter gave him 116 yards for the day and a total of 1,615 for the season, breaking McCoy's single-season record of 1,607 yards set back in 2013.
He had a chance to break the record on the Eagles’ touchdown drive early in the fourth quarter, as he was one yard away from tying McCoy with the Eagles facing a third and goal at the four, but Jalen Hurts instead threw a touchdown pass to Grant Calcaterra – the first TD catch of his NFL career.
Saquon got a two-point conversion run after that, which does not count towards his rushing total, so instead, he had to wait until the second play of the next offensive drive to set the record, to the crowd's chants of MVP.
Barkley entered the game needing 108 yards to tie McCoy’s record, and a pace of just over 121 per game the rest of the way to break the all-time single-season NFL record of 2,105, set by #BackforBarkley Eric Dickerson in 1984.
Saquon finished the game with 20 rushes for 124 yards, giving him 1,623 on the year – currently the 51st best rushing season ever. He needs 483 in the final four games to surpass Dickerson, still a pace of 121 per game.
