For many fathers, there is nothing better than getting to take their son fishing. While most want to teach their kid the ropes and share something they enjoy with their child, plenty are just happy with the bonding experience.

However, one child may now be traumatized after an alligator snuck up on him and stole his fish and his pole during a father-son fishing trip.

Sean McMahon of Florida recently took his 7-year-old son Dawson fishing in the family’s backyard, but what started as a great experience quickly turned scary for both the father and the son.

As seen in the video, the boy is struggling while reeling in a fish, but finally gets it to the surface. Once the fish hits land, an alligator appears snatching it away, and stealing the boy’s fishing pole as well.

"Alligator alert. Dawson caught a bass tonight and out of nowhere an alligator came up, Ate the bass and ripped his pole into the water,” the father captioned the now viral video on Facebook.

Luckily, no one was harmed during the alligator incident, according to Fox News. Hopefully, his son isn’t too traumatized to ever fish again.
