Busch’s new initiative aims to help clear out the shelters by finding pups a new home amid the coronavirus pandemic.
From now until April 22, the beer brand is incentivizing adoptions by gifting anyone who fosters or adopts a dog through the Midwest Animal Rescue & Services (MARS) a free three-month supply of drinks.
As coronavirus continues to spread, many shelters and rescues are closing their doors while others are saying the virus has led to an influx of dogs and overcrowding.
Busch is also donating $25,000 to MARS to help the shelter find loving homes for pets around the country. .
“During these uncertain and lonelier times, people need an escape: cue the cute puppy memes and photos,” said a spokesperson for Busch in a statement. “But as much as we need those cute puppy pics to help get us through social distancing, it’s actually them who need us.”
The spokesperson added: “Social distancing is better with a furry friend by your side and a cold beer in your hand.”
If you’re on the fence about welcoming a new furry family member, there are plenty of benefits to self-isolating with a pet.
For starters, it saves lives and feels good to be doing your part in helping the dog become more adoptable.
The Anxiety and Depression Association of America also emphasized that pets give constant companionship, love and affection stating that many people are “happier and healthier” in the presence of animals. Additionally, pets can also “alleviate stress, anxiety, depression, and feelings of loneliness and social isolation.”
