Chipotle’s Boorito promotion goes digital amid pandemic

Even though Halloween will look different amid the pandemic, Chipotle fans will still have a chance to enjoy the chain’s spooky season special.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of its Boorito promotion, Chipotle is going digital with the deal so customers can still participate, reports TODAY.

The annual promotion, which grants customers a discounted entree when they wear a costume, will give out half a million buy-one-get-one entree codes via texting and social media this year.

Between Oct. 29 and Oct. 31, Chipotle will share a specific keyword on TikTok, Twitter and Instagram. To redeem the offer, people can text the code to 888-222 while supplies last.

While the keyword will be shared starting two days before, it can only be redeemed on Halloween day.

“Over the years, BOOrito has become a mainstay for Chipotle and while we can’t have our usual in-person event, canceling completely was never an option for us,” Chris Brandt, Chief Marketing Officer, said in a media statement. “This year, we’ve introduced a virtual BOOrito to help our fans celebrate and enjoy our real food from anywhere this Halloween.”

The annual Boorito deal originated as an offer to customers who showed up dressed as burritos, before opening up to patrons in any costume.

Thankfully, people can still enjoy the beloved offer even as coronavirus changes Halloween plans for many.
