NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — A Delta flight headed to Atlanta from LaGuardia Airport was forced to return to the gate Monday morning after two passengers opened a cabin door and used the emergency slide to get out.

Delta Airlines Flight 462 was already taxiing on the runway when the incident happened.

According to multiple reports, the two passengers, a man and a woman, had a service dog with them as they slid out of the plane.

A witness told the New York Times that the man told flight attendants he had post-traumatic stress disorder and could not sit down because he would "freak out."

It's not clear whether the couple faces any charges.

Remaining passengers were accommodated on alternate flights.

Flight 462 ended up leaving more than nine hours later after maintenance crews checked the aircraft.
