5-Year-Old Bursts Into Tears Upon Learning She'll Leave Parents to Attend College in Future

A 5-year-old girl's tearful reaction learning that one day she will head to college and have to be away from her parents is heartbreaking, yet charming.

Kenzie Lund, of Grove, Minnesota, asked her mother the question, "When do I start living on my own?"

Jessica Baker, her mother, recounted to "Good Morning America" how Kenzie got emotional when she received the answer.

"I started saying, 'When you're 18, you go off to college and live in the dorms' and she just kind of lost it," she said.

Baker recorded the tender moment where she had to tell her daughter that it was going to be okay.

"I don't want to go to college because I will miss my mom and dad," Kenzie said through tears.

The doting mother said her daughter is a funny little girl, but has been through a lot having been born with a heart condition. She described Kenzie as quite the character and said everyone tells her that she'll be a performer one day.

Baker said she plans to share the video at Kenzie's future high school graduation party.

The video can be found on YouTube, where it has amassed more than 3,400 views.

One user commented, "This broke my heart!! Just knowing what she's been through and understanding that she loves her family is a fulfilling joy, though! Stay sweet, Kenzie!!"

Another added: "Sweet little girl. She will sing a different tune at 18. This is nice to go back and show her when it’s time for college."

Others felt bad for the little girl and offered words of consolation by indicating she can always live at home and still go to college.
