Here's what you need to know about Walmart's Big Save event

As the holiday sale season begins to kick off, Walmart has announced huge deals on services and products.

The retail company revealed its Big Save event ahead of the holiday shopping season will run from Sunday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. EST through Oct. 15, reported Good Morning America.

Shoppers will have the opportunity to buy electronics, home, beauty, fashion, and more at discounted prices. When participating in the event, customers will receive free two-day shipping on orders over $35, as well as free NextDay delivery or in-store pickup on specific items.

In addition, Walmart says it will begin seasonal sales earlier ahead of Black Friday. No exact date has been announced yet, but the company plans to share details soon.

The retail giant shared that it will roll out increased online sales, earlier holiday shopping deals, and thousands of new staff hires and in-store safety guidelines to ensure customers’ and employees’ safety.

The chain is making sure to increase items such as sleepwear, exercise equipment, and outdoor needs, in line with the “new normal” demands during coronavirus. It is also making sure to increase inventory.

In July, it was announced that the world’s largest retailer wouldn’t be open on Thanksgiving as a way of thanking employees for their hard work during the pandemic.

The announcement means it will be the first time the chain is closed for the holiday since the ’80s. Walmart’s Sam’s Club will also be closed, but that has been the norm for the company’s sister chain. Both Walmart and Sam’s Club will reopen on Black Friday, but store hours will be released at a later date, the company said.

The Big Save event will be running on some of the same days as Amazon’s Prime Day, in addition to Target Deal Days, which is scheduled to go live on Oct. 13 and Oct. 14.
