Next month, first responders will get an extra discount at Lowe's to honor their hard work and sacrifice.

The home improvement chain announced that from Oct. 22-24, first responders can save 10% on select products at its stores nationwide. The discount will also be available online at Lowes.com, USA Today reported.

Starting on Wednesday, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, police officers, 911 dispatchers, nurses, and physicians will be able to sign up for the coupon at Lowes.com/firstresponders. After filling out an eligibility form, those who qualify will receive their discount.

"We've always been huge supporters of our first responders," Lowe's chairman and CEO Marvin Ellison said, USA Today reported. "As we think about the global health crisis and all of the natural disasters, we just felt it was appropriate for us as a large company to just show a gesture of goodwill and gratitude."

National First Responders Day is on Oct. 28, and Lowes plans to honor the first 75 first responders who use their discount at each store with an appreciation coin.
