Michelin-Rated Chef Offers Free Daily Cooking Classes on 'Kitchen Quarantine' Instagram Series

Foodies who can’t get to their favorite restaurants due to the coronavirus pandemic can still enjoy a meal from one of the most renowned chefs in the world, they’re just going to have to cook it themselves.

Italian chef Massimo Bottura, who is the man behind the Michelin three-star restaurant Osteria Francescana, is bringing his culinary skills to the masses by streaming how he prepares his nightly dinners on social media.

Bottura has named the English-language live streams “Kitchen Quarantine,” which take place at 12pm PT/3pm ET on his official Instagram account.

“Hello everyone, here we are,” Bottura said on his first episode on Sunday. “First of all, wash your hands. Second, stay healthy.”

The 57-year-old then quickly offered his first recipe tip.

“Drinks lots of orange juice, fresh pressed, and with all the peels you have you can make a great marmalade for the morning,” he added.

His most recent culinary tutorials have included a  veggie Thai curry, a warm “bollito” salad and tortellini in a creamy parmesan sauce.

Afterwards, the energetic chef addresses fan questions and comments about the recipes in an online Q&A session.

He even addressed why "Kitchen Quarantine" is being broadcast in English and not his native Italian.

“I want to share this joyful, family experience with everyone connected around the world,” Bottura said, according to Secret Miami.

Along with Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy, which is rated #1 on the San Pellegrino list of best restaurants in the world, Bottura also helms Gucci Osterias in Florence and Beverly Hills. The eateries are located within the Gucci fashion boutiques.

For the time being those restaurants, like many around the world, have either been closed or limited to takeout or delivery only in order to try and slow the spread of COVID-19.

So if you want to use your extra downtime to learn how to cook a delicious meal from one of the masters in the industry, “Kitchen Quarantine” is available free and without a reservation.
