Dustin and Caren Moore were in for a surprise when they brought their new daughter home for the first time – and it wasn’t just in-flight refreshments.
In a Twitter thread that quickly gained the attention of over 15,000 users, Moore shared the details of an impromptu, in-flight baby shower, put on by the flight attendants and those traveling on the same plane through Southwest Airlines.
“I hope our story uplifts you, and reminds you there is goodness to be had in this world,” the thread begins.
Moore goes on to outline the details of the couple's retrieving of their newly adopted daughter from Colorado and returning home to California with her. During the flight, their new daughter got fussy, needing a diaper change.
Instead of angry passengers, the couple received an outpouring of love when flight attendants Bobby and Jenny rounded up well-wishes from fellow passengers for the new parents.
“The attendant Bobby came on and announced a special guest on the flight. Our daughter. ‘She’s just been adopted by her parents Caren and Dustin, and is making her way home,’” Moore recalled of the announcement to the plane.
“He then shared that the crew would pass out pens and napkins to everyone, and anybody who wanted to share a word of advice or encouragement for our family was welcome to do so,” Moore continued in the Twitter thread.
Moore concluded the thread, hoping to shed light on strangers who bring on random acts of kindness. “I hope you’ll take time to share what is good. In a world of turmoil, don’t forget to showcase the Bobby’s and Jenny’s, the kind strangers out there.” He then shared a memory book, including the kind words written on the napkins of strangers.
