As Italian citizens remain on lockdown, people are turning to social media to spread light in a time of darkness.
While community members cannot be physically together, people all across the country have been posting photos and videos to show support for their fellow people, reported People.
In one video, which was taken in Siena, people's voices can be heard singing together, as residents continue to keep a positive overlook due to COVID-19.
“People of my hometown #Siena sing a popular song from their houses along an empty street to warm their hearts during the Italian #Covid_19 #lockdown,” one social media user wrote.
“My street is empty. All are closed in homes because of the corona. Then one neighbor starts singing. Followed by another And suddenly the whole street sings together. We are not alone, and we will hold on,” one user said while posting another video.
Another video that was take in Naples showed people joining together to sing “Abbracciame,” a title which translates to “hug me.”
While in Sicily, neighbors are seen singing as another neighbor accompanies them on the accordion. “Sicily has figured out this whole self-isolation thing,” one social media user captioned the video.
The Italian government continues taking action as the country's death toll from coronavirus rises. As the country's deaths from the infectious virus have surpassed 100 people, the government implemented a plan that closed all schools and universities. Additionally, the government, under Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, is expected to release new rules advising the nation not to kiss.
