Sir David Attenborough breaks Instagram record previously held by Jennifer Aniston

Step aside, Jennifer Aniston – there’s a new social media influencer in town.

The “Friends” actress no longer holds the Instagram record for fastest time to reach one million followers.

The title has been passed on to English broadcaster and historian, Sir David Attenborough.

According to the Guinness World Records, Sir David reached the milestone at a record speed of four hours.

That trumps the title held by the actress who reached the million follower mark in five hours and 16 minutes.

Prior to her, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle held the record nabbing the million in five hours and 45 minutes.

The 94-year-old naturalist far exceeded one million as he currently has a whopping 3.2 million followers.

His first post, a minute-long video from the naturalist himself, racked up 12.9 million views.

In the clip, Sir David explains he joined the social media platform to gain some positive PR for fighting climate change.

"And I'm making this move and exploring this new way of communication to me, because as we all know, the world is in trouble. Continents are on fire. Glaciers are melting. Coral reefs are dying. Fish are disappearing from our oceans. The list goes on and on and on,” he warned his impressive follower count.

He explained that he hopes to use the account to share other important messages about the environment and ways to save it.

“Social media isn’t David’s usual habitat so while he’s recorded messages solely for Instagram, like the one in this post, we're helping to run this account," explained account runners Collin Butfield and Johnnie Hughes.

Butfield and Hughes are producing Sir David’s upcoming Netflix documentary, “A Life On Our Planet." The second-ever post on the account gave fans a glimpse of the project.
