WATCH: Man accused of pointing laser at helicopter pilot

A man in Florida was accused of pointing a laser at a sheriff’s office helicopter.

Video obtained by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office shows the man pointing a bright green laser light directly at a helicopter pilot, News 6 reports.

The department captioned the post, “Jason Ogle, 32, was arrested on November 6 at his east Orange County home and charged with a third-degree felony for pointing a laser light at an aircraft.”

Deputies say the 32-year-old is being accused after video from the department’s Chase 2 helicopter shows him standing outside a home and pointing the laser directly into the sky.

Records show that the laser was strong enough for the pilot to know precisely where Ogle’s location was. The pilot was able to direct deputies on the ground to him.

When deputies arrived at the scene, Ogle still had the laser in his hand. However, he quickly moved back to the home door and threw something inside before he was taken into custody.

According to the affidavit, Ogle made comments about shining the laser into the sky. When in custody, he refused to answer further comments.

Deputies said the pilot was required to seek medical treatment due to looking directly at the laser.

Ogle is facing a charge of pointing a laser light at a driver or pilot.
