Woman reunited with missing dog who ran from crash that killed her fiancé

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – A Brooklyn, New York woman was reunited with her dog after the pet ran from the scene of a crash that killed her fiancé.

AnnMarie Fasano was reunited with Shadow, a 2-year-old Cane Corso, on Friday, according to a Facebook post by Lost and Found Pets in Brooklyn.

Shadow was found nearly a week after he ran from the scene of the crash that killed Fasano’s fiancé, Michael March, the New York Post reported.

March had left the couple’s Gerritsen Beach home with Shadow when he crashed on the Belt Parkway on Jan. 30.

Fasano told the Post, “After all this, I’m just like wow. It’s the first time I’ve smiled since everything.”

“This dog survived a fatal car crash, across the Belt Parkway, lived on snow in a wooded area near a golf course during a snowstorm and he’s home and OK,” Fasano said.

She told the Post that Shadow was found near Floyd Bennet Field by volunteer dog trapper Teddy Hen and Lost and Found Pets.

“Shadow was found by the rescue team, near the marina and is safe and home,” Lost and Found Pets posted to Facebook, along with photos of Shadow in the snow after being located.
