Some of the best athletes can run a mile in under 6 minutes, but what about a woman who's 9 months pregnant?
Makenna Myler, 28, is going viral on TikTok for her impressive mile time while just days or weeks away from welcoming a baby into the world. Myler's husband, Mike, shared the video to TikTok where it's gained over 700,000 views.
It all started when Mike bet Makenna that she wouldn't be able to run a mile in under 8 minutes during her ninth month of pregnancy, and Makenna was up to the challenge.
The couple, from Utah, has been sharing their pregnancy updates on Instagram for their followers. Now, the couple has gained some social media fame for Makenna's athletic ability - even while pregnant.
Makenna revealed to Today that she has been running competitively since high school, even running in college at BYU. She then found herself an elite athlete for Valor Track Club. But running while pregnant certainly came with its own challenges. "The weight really does a number on my cadence," she said.
"The first 2.5 laps were pretty comfy from training, but from there my form turned into more of an emperor penguin style - side to side as well as forward motion," she continued.
Many users took to the comments section of the video to ask about the safety involved in running so fast while pregnant. Makenna assures viewers that her doctor gave her the go-ahead.
"Both doctors I've worked with have been more than happy, and even encouraging with my regimen," she explained.
Meanwhile, Alyssa Dweck MD, a gynecologist in New York, told Today that many women can continued their normal fitness routines unless their specific doctor has told them otherwise.
"The caveat is you really need to hydrate," she said. "People get clumsy during pregnancy, and joints can get lax, so it's also important to be careful of falling," Dweck continued.
Makenna is due to have her baby on October 19.
