Think outside the “fox.”
A mother's costume prank on her daughter has gone viral after initially pulling the gag three years ago, reported Fox News.
Comedian Allison Reese posted throwback pictures of a woman wearing a fox costume to commemorate stumbling upon the bizarre incident back in 2018.
In the tweet, she explained how three years ago the woman in the costume came into the Chicago coffee shop Reese worked at during her early morning shift.
“Happy 3 year anniversary to working in a coffee shop at 6AM and my first customer was this lady in a fox costume on her way to surprise chase her daughter, who was afraid of mascots, down the street in Chicago,” Reese wrote on Twitter.
Reese also shared that the mom traveled from out of state to complete the hilarious prank.
“Like, this lady had flown in from out of town to surprise her kid by chasing her down the street in her nightmare situation before work. Best open I ever had,” Reese wrote.
The story didn't end there, as both women reached out to Reese after she shared her nostalgic tribute to the hilarious stunt.
Reese posted an update and said that the mother and daughter found her on social media.
Reese tweeted: “YOU GUYS ARENT GONNA BELIEVE THIS BUT THE DAUGHTER FOUND ME ON INSTAGRAM! AND THE MOM FOUND ME ON FACEBOOK!! so crazy.”
She also shared pictures of messages with both the daughter and mother.
According to the pictures, the mom wrote: “Omg Allison. This is the lady in the fox costume. Thanks for doing this. My daughter is having a lot of fun with this post. We certainly made her day that year. Today she’s 33 and I didn’t make it for her birthday but she surprised me with tickets to come to her last month. Thanks again!!!”
The daughter provided more context to the prank.
“I had NO idea she was coming,” the daughter wrote to Reese. “I was leaving for work and was running late and she was texting my friend to see where I was. She was in my lobby and legit scared the absolute s--t outta me and I RAN outside and in my Uber.”
Since Reese posted the initial tweet, users on social media have retweeted it more than 5,500 times, and it has been liked more than 84,000 times.
