HARTFORD, Conn. (1010 WINS) — Gov. Ned Lamont announced Thursday that all state employees, K-12 teachers and staff, as well as early childhood education staff will be required to be vaccinated starting Sept. 27.
"That is going to represent an enormous benefit to them as well as for all those folks they are taking care off," Lamont said.
While state hospital employees do not have an option to test rather than get vaccinated, the governor said there is a weekly testing out option for other state employees.
"That's a lousy solution," he added. "The solution is for everybody to get vaccinated."
Masks are also currently required for students in all K-12 schools in Connecticut at least through September, while a mandate requires nursing homes to employ at least only partial vaccinated workers goes into effect on Sept. 7.
Lamont said 74% of the population, 12-years-old and up, is now vaccinated.
