NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Friday announced it will soon mandate all employees and guests be fully vaccinated before entering the arena.

“Beginning Monday, Sept. 13, individuals ages 12 and up will be required to show proof of at least one vaccine dose,” the arena said in a statement.

Fans 11-years-old and under can still enter the center but, must register a negative PCR test within 72 hours of the event they will be attending. A negative antigen test can also be registered within six hours of the event.

“As advised by the CDC, full vaccination means at least 14 days after your second dose of the Pfizer-BioNtech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine (or other COVID-19 vaccinations recognized by WHO) or at least 14 days after your single dose of Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen COVID-19 vaccine,” the Barclay Center’s website said.

Fans can show proof of vaccination upon arrival through a paper copy of the vaccination card, a photo of their vaccination card or on New York State’s Excelsior Pass.

Vaccinated patrons are still required to wear a face mask at all times inside the arena, unless eating or drinking.

“We have heard from our fans that requiring vaccination is important to them and we want to provide the safest possible environment for all employees and guests at Barclays Center,” the arena said in a statement.

The announcement from Barclays Center came about one week after Mayor de Blasio announced that New Yorkers will soon have to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination in order to enter indoor businesses, including bars, restaurants, movie theaters and gyms.

The new vaccination rules will launch on Aug. 16 and will begin to be enforced on Sept. 13.
