NJ lifts outdoor mask mandate, travel advisory; indoor mask rule remains: Murphy

TRENTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- New Jersey's indoor mask mandate will remain in effect in public places for now, but the state will lift its outdoor mask mandate and its travel advisory effective immediately, Gov. Phil Murphy said Monday.

New Jerseyans will still be required to wear masks in indoor public spaces, Murphy said at a news briefing.

"The majority of New Jerseyans are still unvaccinated, and keeping this mandate in place in public settings protects you, your family, essential workers and our entire community," he explained.

Travelers, however, will no longer be required to quarantine when they enter New Jersey, the governor said. The state will also be lifting its outdoor mask mandate for public spaces effective immediately, he said.

Murphy on Monday also said schools would offer full-time, in-person instruction when they resume in the fall.
