Following the release of their hit song, “you look like you love me,” Langley and Green have been hit with romance rumors from fans hoping the song turns into a real life love story between the pair. Despite fans’ highest hopes, both Ella and Riley have shut down the rumors time and time again.

Last month during an appearance at Audacy’s Stars and Strings, Green shared with Kiss Country 99.9's TC & Dina B he believes people are rooting for he and Ella for “the same reasons” they rooted for George Jones and Tammy Wynette, Johnny Cash and June Carter as well as Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. “It's like everybody just wants to believe in that couple, you know, if you can have that.”

“Obviously, we've got two songs together, they’re doing really well,” he continued, referring to “you look like you love me” and “Don’t Mind If I Do.” “It’s a cool thing to see fans really latching on to both of us kind of at the same time. We've been on tour together, we're going back on tour together, so it's really cool to watch that kind of happen, and I'm really happy for her success too.”

During a recent podcast interview on the Viall Files with Nick Viall, Green clarified — once again — he and Ella are not an item, adding he doesn’t believe she would even consider dating him. “Ella's probably too smart to date me anyway,” he quipped when asked if he and Langley were “just friends.”

Green continued on to share he and Langley knew romance rumors would be part of the gig if they released the song together, but both decided to continue, regardless. "When we first started having the success that we did with that song, I told Ella, I was like, 'There's gonna be a lot of things said, but we don't really got to play into it or not play into it,’” Green shared before admitting, “"It's cool to have that one and have that moment on stage together every night.”

Ella also had her concerns about the duet, which she opened up about during a recent conversation with Audacy’s Katie Neal. “Honestly, I just thought it was going to go the complete opposite way,” she shared, admitting she was questionable of the song’s potential. “I was worried about putting out a song with him in the first place just because, you know, he’s Riley Green — that’s all I really have to say.”

She continued, “Playing shows this past year, there’s a lot of people who didn’t know who I was and so some of the girls in the front row were like, so annoyed at me. I’m like, ‘Woah, I’m just up here trying to sing my song.’ This was before the song even came out, so I was a little worried all these girls were about to attack me because I’m putting out a song with Riley. But, it went such the opposite way and I was like, ‘the girls have my back! Wow!’”

As of a few weeks ago, the song is now a CMA Winner for Musical Event of the Year earning both Riley and Ella their first CMA Awards and setting them up for even more success come 2025.
